The Ends

Setting out from Shanghai, John Watson and Mission Workshop began their cycling tour of China’s Yangtze River Delta. Using both film and digital formats, Watson photographed the surroundings and encounters with the local community. Led by their friends from Factory Five, they headed into a frenetic network of massive residential complexes, large industrial parks, and super highways. At first glance, the route seemed straightforward, however, the reality of the 1,000km trip was far more intense than anyone expected.

Introducing The Urban Cycling Hall Of Fame

Our boy Billy “Souphorse” Sinkford has been working on this for a while now. Echos Communication and Chrome Industries present the Urban Cycling Hall OF Fame. The mission of the UCHOF is to highlight the culture and history of urban cycling. Affinity supports this project and will be donating items to the Hall Of Fame for sure.

Affinity sponsored rider Kelli Samuelson came out to NYC for the Red Hook Crit. It was great to spend some time with her at the shop and on the town. This girl is fast! An unfortunate flat while qualifying left Kelli out of the running, but she kept her head up and had fun instead.

The Ride4NY benefit ride is this Staruday!

We are on for this Saturday, albeit with a bit of a route change. The New York City part of the ride has been nixed in favor of a more direct route up 9w in New Jersey to the New York State line.

The ride will now start on the New Jersey side of the GW bridge, and it’ll even start a little later than originally planned. For the exact details of the ride go to the Ride4NY facebook page, or the Ride4NY website. Registration opens at 8:30am and it’ll be a fun casual ride for all. So far the registration numbers are great, and they’ll be a ton of riders for the event. Congrats to all of the participants for donating and making a difference, your efforts are truly appreciated.

In addition to the group ride, Ride4NY is working in conjunction with Champion System to create a custom jersey, an awesome cap, and tech socks. They can be purchased right now directly through the Champion System website here, and the proceeds will go directly to families in Rockaway’s and Staten Island. Raekwon’s Hurricane Sandy Benefit Concert

We are proud to announce the RIDE4NY HURRICANE SANDY BENEFIT CONCERT featuring New York City rapper Raekwon, of the Wu Tang Clan. Join us this December 13^th at 8pm at Jaguars3 225 47^th St. Brooklyn NY for an evening hosted by Raekwon including special guests and prominent members of the hip hop community.

Affinity will be hosting a group ride out to the concert this Thursday. Meet at the shop (616 Grand St) at 7PM for a fun ride out to the show.

Raekwon of the Wu Tang Clan and Affinity Cycles present 3 custom charity bikes for Ride4NY

Affinity Cycles and Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan have come together to design 3 custom bikes to be auctioned off to aid those hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy. In typical Wu Tang black and yellow, these bikes feature some of New York Cities hardest hit areas, Staten Island, Rockaway, Red Hook and Coney Island.

The bikes are being auctioned on Ebay beginning today, Monday December 10th and will end on Friday morning December 14th. All proceeds raised from each bike will go directly to the families directly affected by the storm in Staten Island, Redhook, Coney Island and Rockaway Beach.

Affinity and Raekwon are working in conjunction wit Ride4NY, a New York City based cycling initiative formed with the intent to raise awareness, fundraising, rebuilding strategies for those hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy. Ride4NY will be hosting a group ride this upcoming Saturday December 15th. More details to follow about the group ride. In celebration of Ride4NY Raekwon is hosting a benefit concert this Thursday December 13th in Brooklyn at Jaguars 3 located at 225 47^th St. betw. 2nd and 3rd ave.

The frame set is an Affinity Kissena with custom 88mm carbon rims hand laced to Gran Compe hubs. The winner can choose either tubular or clincher rims. Parts list includes, Affinity R/T crank set, Truvativ bb, Tange track bars, Thomson stem and seat post, All City track grips, Fizik Arione saddle, FSA headset, Conti tires, Mks pedals and clips, Toshi double straps.

This is a 5 day no reserve auction. Since this is a custom bike, the winner will choose their size Affinity Kissena frame, then the bike will be sent out for paint. Please expect 2 weeks to 1 month for paint and assembly. There will only be 3 of these bikes made, each is unique in its own right.

Hurricane Sandy hit New York City a little over a month ago, the majority of Rockaway and the hardest hit area of Staten Island are still with out power. We will be distributing the funds through grass roots relief efforts on Staten Island and Rockaway in the form of pre paid credit cards. Members of Ride4NY, Affinity and Raekwon will be hand delivering these pre paid credit cards door to door shortly after the auction, just in time for the holiday season.
